Jaime Huenún
 
 

A contemporary Mapuche poet, born in Valdivia, Chile in 1967. He began to write in his adolescence, between 18 and 20 years, guided by the great poets of that period.

Huenún won the Pablo Neruda Prize in 2003, and is author of the following collections "Ceremonias" (1999) and "Puerto Trakl" (2001). He has edited the anthology "20 poetas Mapuche contemporáneos" in Spanish and Mapudungun.

First Prize in 1999 in the National Poetry Competition "The Young Neruda" in Temuco.

Winner of the XVI Pablo Neruda Prize in 2003..
